Many years ago, the Ontario Fire Company began to memorialize our deceased members. The plaques that honor them are currently on display on the wall in our fire station. As our wall of honor grew, so did our desire to honor our brothers and sisters in a way for all to visit and see. Approximately two years ago our desire started to become reality when a memorial and monument plan was researched. In December of 2006 the fire company voted unanimously to build a memorial that could be viewed outside of the fire station. The final plans included the expansion of our current walkway and incorporated the bell display located in the front of the fire station. This original bell served as a notification device to our first firefighters in Ontario and now serves as a reminder of our history. Our new memorial will serve to remind the entire community of the dedication and unselfishness of the firefighters who have served us all. After many hours of thought and deliberation, and two years of planning and execution, the members of the Ontario Fire Company, Ontario Fire District #1, the Fireman’s Auxiliary, and Explorer Post 739 present the finished product for all to observe today.
